Jake and Tony Villani dock the boat and fish land based for Dusky Flathead in a small estuary system in New South Whales. We had acquired a few packets of Bozo soft plastics and given that soft plastic lure fishing is our preferred method for targeting Flathead we decided we may as well put them to the test on camera and see how they go.

We were in the month of December, the herald of summer, and with the rising temperature starting to warm the water, we knew just where to start looking for the fish. Similar to us Humans, Flathead also like to sun bake and can regularly be found in the shallows where the water is more easily influenced by the suns rays. And with the navigability being easy for the anglers on foot.

The majority of the estuary is made up of very mellow contours with the general water depth ranging from 300mm to 1200mm, and with easy navigability for the angler on land, it makes for a great land based spot to target Blue Spot Flathead.
