Tony Villani and I target Dusky Flathead in a estuary system situated in the far east of Victoria, somewhere in the region of Gippsland. We had had some success with the Flathead fishing lately and we decided that we'd attempt to get some footage and make a sort of 'how-to' video about catching Flathead on lures. The lure of choice was a lipless crank bait made by Japanese tackle company, Duo. The Realis Vibration 62 was brand new to Australia and we were pretty test them out in its estuarine waters.
In regards to another element of our fishing adventure, there was also something quite new going on, and that was, our first attempt to film and produce a watchable episode out of one of our morning fishing sessions which had been, somewhat, the idea of Weflick all along.
We were just into summer, and one could say the fish were out and about, soaking up the beautiful sun and enjoying a good feed! We, on the other hand, were at the mouth of this particular estuary system, where this fish party be held, amongst the rocks that lay bare and its sand sediment surroundings that climbed higher than they did deep. With the heat spiking high during the day, we found the flathead were sitting amongst the cover of these rock boulders and clefts, coming out of their shelter when they saw fit.
Given the present moment, we thought it would be interesting to see if the Realis vibes were worthy enough to lure the flathead out from the shelter in which they lay.
