Anthony Villani and Joel Turton-Lane make their way to a estuary system along New South Wales' Sapphire Coast to target Dusky Flathead using vibe lures. Having just got our hands on Duo's Realis Vibration 62 lipless crankbait, a high quality Japanese designed and manufactured hard bait, we were eager to put them to the test in front of the camera!
The main grounds we fished were of a shallow depth, between 1-2 meters, with patches of string weed scattered along the estuary's expanse of sand undulation. In the eyes of estuarine fish, the entrance of an estuary provides the predator with many ambush opportunities as the undulating sand dunes give plenty of cover for them to source a predictable feed, using the ebb & flow of the tide & utilising the cyclical movements of baitfish coming in and out of the system.
Through the same eyes we fished and quickly managed some quality fish as we gradually made our way to some deeper water.
As we approached deeper water Tony layed down his fishing rod and exchanged it for the video camera, which i was quite thankful for. Having been filming for a few hours & watching the guys get stuck into the fish, one could say i was more than ready to start casting, in search of some bigger Dusky Flathead.
Joel and I proceeded to make our way to a junction of two main channels where we fished vibes over the drop off's, hopping the lures from the shallow water into the deeper water of the channels.
Wise men say, "work your lure all the way back to the boat". The reason for this, obviously, is to cover as much water as possible per cast which, in this case, paid off as you will see when you watch the video!
Thanks for reading and enjoy watching the fishing video.
